Bay County’s Public Transit System

How to Ride

Traveling on Bayway is a breeze. Here’s everything you need to know about hopping on board.

1. Decide Your Destination

Use the system-wide map to identify the routes you’ll need to reach your destination. If you need assistance in planning your trip, call Bayway at (850)-769-0557 or use the Trip Planner on this webpage.

2. Arrive at Your Bus Stop

Determine the time that the bus will arrive at your bus stop. Make sure you are at the bus stop at least five minutes before the bus arrival time.

3. Identify Your Bus

Look for the bus you want to catch. Some buses are equipped with destination signs. The destination signs are located above the vehicle windshield. Other buses do not have destination signs and route identification is located on the vehicle front usually on the windshield.

4. Bus Fares

When you board the bus, please have your cash or pass and ID ready. For more information about Bayway passes, see Where can I buy a pass?.

5. Board Your Bus

Stand on the sidewalk away from the curb and wait for the bus to come to a complete stop. Allow passengers already onboard to exit before boarding. Be prepared for delays due to traffic, road construction, or bad weather. Some buses are equipped to lower and/or kneel. This feature can be used by individuals who have difficulty stepping from the curb to the bus step. If you need the bus lowered, please inform the bus operator.

6. Hopping Off

When you see your stop approaching, press the strip along the wall or pull the yellow stop cord to signal the bus operator that you wish to stop at the next bus stop. Collect all of your belongings and exit the bus through the closest door.

7. Fixed Route Deviations

When time allows, the bus can deviate from its fixed route and stop at another location within three-quarters of a mile from the established route. Route deviation requests must be made at least one business day in advance by calling (850) 769-0557. Deviated Fixed Route Service is available to all passengers.
